This vending machine is not like the others

If you think vending machines are just for snacks and soft drinks, you haven’t visited Abu Dhabi.

In 2010, the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi changed introduced world’s first vending machine offering gold bars and coins in different weights.

The German-made ‘Gold to Go’ vending machine is covered in 24-carat gold and protected by a range of security measures, including anti-money laundering software. It also tracks the gold price in fluctuating markets with a built-in website that transmits the information every 10 seconds and updates the price accordingly every 10 minutes.
